While Stripe doesn't support monthly donations, you can still become a sponsor! Simply make a one-time donation equivalent to 12 months of support, and you'll gain access to the corresponding sponsoring tier. It's an easy and flexible way to contribute.

If you are not sure or not able to commit to a regular donation, but still want to help the project, you can do a one-time donation, of any amount.

Choose freely the amount you wish to donate one time only.

You can support FreeCAD by sponsoring it as an individual or organization through various platforms. Sponsorship provides a steady income for developers, allowing the FPA to plan ahead and enabling greater investment in FreeCAD. To encourage sponsorship, we offer different tiers, and unless you choose to remain anonymous, your name or company logo will be featured on our website accordingly.

from 1 USD / 1 EUR per month. You will not have your name displayed here, but you will have helped the project a lot anyway. Together, normal sponsors maintain the project on its feet as much as the bigger sponsors.

from 25 USD / 25 EUR per month. Your name or company name is displayed on this page.

from 100 USD / 100 EUR per month. Your name or company name is displayed on this page, with a link to your website, and a one-line description text.

from 200 USD / 200 EUR per month. Your name or company name and logo displayed on this page, with a link to your website and a custom description text. Companies that have helped FreeCAD early on also appear under Gold sponsors.

Instead of donating each month, you might find it more comfortable to make a one-time donation that, when divided by twelve, would give you right to enter a sponsoring tier. Don't hesitate to do so!

Choose freely the amount you wish to donate each month.

Please inform your forum name or twitter handle as a notein your transfer, or reach to us, so we can give you proper credits!

Description

Transforms the coordinate system of a face to a user-defined coordinate system - rectangular or cylindrical. This coordinate system affects the boundary condition and load definitions. For example, you can use it to fix the displacements in the normal direction of an inclined face or apply boundary conditions in radial and tangential directions for cylindrical faces. Just select the proper component of the displacement boundary condition.

Usage

  1. Apply displacement boundary condition or force load to a face first.
  2. There are several ways to invoke the command:
    • Press the Local Coordinate System button.
    • Select the Model → Geometrical Analysis Features → Local Coordinate System option from the menu.
  3. Select rectangular or cylindrical transform. The former can be applied to any face, the latter is available only for the cylindrical faces.
  4. Select a face to which the displacement boundary condition or force load was previously applied. Press the Add button. introduced in 1.1: To remove a face from the selection, select it and press the Remove button.
  5. For rectangular transform, specify a rotation about each of the three axes. Arrows displayed on the face represent the new directions (X - red, Y - green and Z - blue).

Rectangular local coordinate system defined for an inclined face. Long thin arrows indicate the global coordinate system, short thick ones represent the local one. Displacement boundary condition with fixed Z displacement (blue axis - perpendicular to the face in the local coordinate system) was applied first (hidden in the picture). This simulates roller support with the part being able to slide along that face.

Cylindrical transformation for a cylindrical face. Global X direction (red) always becomes the local radial direction. Fixing it via displacement boundary condition prevents radial expansion but not rotation around the hole. That would require fixing the tangential direction (Y in global axes). The third direction (global Z) is axial.

Cylindrical transformation for a cylindrical face. Force (purple arrows) applied in the global Y direction becomes force applied in the tangential direction - torque. The shaft is twisted.

Limitations

  • Cylindrical transform can be applied only to cylindrical faces.

Notes

  • This feature can be used to simulate torsion, but only for cylindrical bars or parts containing such bars used to transmit torque.
    • Rigid body constraint is the currently preferred way to simulate torsion without such limitations.
  • The feature uses the *TRANSFORM card in CalculiX.
