Description

The Templater AuxView tool adds an auxiliary view to the active TechDraw drawing page based on a straight line in an existing base view. This line, together with the Z-axis of the base view, defines the orientation of the auxiliary view. The end vertices of the line can either be selected separately or derived from a selected edge.

Usage

  1. Select two vertices or one edge in an existing view.
  2. There are several ways to invoke the tool.
    • Press the Auxiliary View button.
    • Select the Templater → Auxiliary View option from the menu.
  3. A new auxiliary view, an AuxView object, is created. Its line of sight is perpendicular to the line between the selected vertices.
  4. The Auxiliary view settings task panel opens.
    • Optionally change the marker of the view.
    • Optionally reverse the direction of the view.
    • Optionally align the direction with the line.
  5. Click Ok to close the task panel and finish the tool.
  6. Drag the view and the annotation elements to their final positions.

Task Panel

  • Marker of the auxiliary view: Sets the view marker and the related arrow marker.
  • Reverse direction: Turns the x-axis of the auxiliary view by 180° around the z-axis of the selection view to reverse its direction.
  • Along edge: Turns the x-axis of the auxiliary view by 90° around the z-axis of the base view to align it with the selection.
